The Tennessee Williams Home and Welcome Center in Columbus, MS underwent an extensive restoration in 2010. Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Tennessee Williams was born in the house on March 26, 1911. The Victorian home was moved to Main Street in the early 1990s after threats of being torn down. The main floor of the museum offers information about the house, the town, and the personal life of its famous former resident, while the second story shines a spotlight on the highlights of his career. The two-story home has been designated a National Literary Landmark.
