The program provides a variety of recreational opportunities for people of all ages and to provide facilities to host various aquatic events and sports. Programming called for two pools: the main pool, with an area designed to support the 5-, 71/2- and 10-meter diving platforms and springboards along with a 2,000-square-foot pool for younger swimmers equipped with water features of various shapes, sizes, and colors. Adjacent to the pools is the support areas, which consist of ladies, men’s and family locker rooms. The men’s and lady’s locker rooms are configured to allow for four-team areas within them and provide a shower area along with steam and sauna rooms. Economics played an important role in the selection of materials that were close to the site from flooring to structural systems. Technology also played an important role in monitoring the building systems to provide a safe environment in which to work and play.
